Somatic Psychotherapy.

Life can look successful from the outside – we may have a great job, a beautiful family and are seen by others of having a lively, dynamic personality.

But it doesn’t matter how successful we are or what our world appears to be to others we can struggle with feelings of shame, of not being good enough or feel anxious with or uncomfortable around intimacy. As a result we can feel alone, unable to speak and feel as though no-one is listening to what we are REALLY saying.

Often these feelings are reminiscent of experiences we have had throughout our lives that – no matter what we do or how hard we try to ignore them - just don’t seem to go away.

Somatic Psychotherapy can help us to deeply understand the roots of these feelings and how they play out in our lives and relationships. Taking an interpersonal approach - with the right person and the right guidance - it’s possible to navigate these feelings and start to engage with life in a more meaningful way. By including our somatic experience we are able to allow more of ourselves into our lives. We get to know ourselves better and appreciate ourselves more, with all of our richness and all of our flaws.

I have a special interest in working with those who have had difficult childhood experiences and relationships – helping integrate these experiences so we have enriched lives and relationships as adults. I work in a way that is responsive to you so the pace and approach is guided by your needs. I include a combination of mind and body oriented techniques.

I am passionate about helping people overcome difficult circumstances and build a better relationship with themselves and others. I have witnessed the transformation that happens during the process of psychotherapy many times over my 20 years as a therapist. I have seen it in others and experienced it in myself.
