Catherine Tiney
(Remedial & Sports Massage Therapist & Dry Needling)
Ass Dip H Sc (Massage Therapy)
Catherine Tiney has been practising as a full time massage therapist since 1994. Her area of specialisation is in the problem solving side of massage. She works very structurally, assessing which muscles are short and tight, long and weak or short, over worked and weak and then working out a plan to correct these deviations. Although many different practitioners address structural deviations and posture correction Catherine’s point of difference is her specific approach to the muscles, using Trigger Point Therapy and Muscle Energy Techniques to normalise muscle tissue and release joints. She has experience treating complex musculoskeletal pain and has worked on a number of high profile performers.
Aside from treating a wide range of conditions she has a particular interest working with dancers, singers and musicians and has travelled internationally with Lord of the Dance and Gaelforce Dance as massage therapist for the troupe. In Australia her experience includes working with The Australian Ballet, Performers from The Australian Opera, Bangarra Dance, Musicals such as The Lion King and Olympic level athletes.
She continues to see patients and also teachers at various association conferences, continuing education days and runs her own workshops.
