Podiatry

Podiatry is a branch of medicine devoted to the study, diagnosis and treatment of disorders of the foot, ankle and lower leg. This may include general treatments for corns, calluses, warts and ingrown toe nails or more complex biomechanical foot problems.

A Podiatrist will assess mobility and stability of the foot and ankle and will assess how the foot reacts with the ground when you walk. This may involve taking a video of your gait (as you walk) and assessing your foot position standing and walking.

Treatment may involve taping for support of your foot, mobilisation to gain movement in restricted joints and sometimes preparation for the creation of an orthotic to give proper support to your foot when walking.

They treat a range of conditions such as Shin pain, Achilles tendinitis, Aching feet, Bunions Morton's Neuroma, Plantar fasciitis, Sesamoiditis, Heel pain/Heel spurs, Achilles Tendonitis, Flat feet, Arch pain, Aching feet and Legs, Abnormal walking patterns, Ankle pain, Shin pain and Shin splints.

The following podiatrist works in collaboration with practitioners at Sydney Essential Health to assist with treatment:
